Cowboys Third After Day One At Isleworth

WINDERMERE, Fla. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team wrapped up the first day of competition on Sunday at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational with a 291 to stand in third place at Isleworth Country Club.
The Cowboys finished the day just two shots out of the lead held by Stanford. The Cardinal posted a 1-over 289, while TCU came in a shot back at 290.
OSU's Peter Uihlein was one of three players tied for the lead after firing a 4-under 68. The sophomore was joined at the top of the leaderboard by Stanford's Steve Ziegler and Florida's Tim McKenney.
Uihlein lit up the front nine with a 4-under 32 that included birdies at Nos. 1, 2, 6 and 7. The Orlando, Fla., native also birdied the 10th before a double bogey at the 12th and a bogey at the 14th sandwiched a birdie at the 13th. Uihlein added his seventh birdie of the day at the 16th to get back to 4-under par.
Joining Uihlein in the top 20 were junior Kevin Tway and sophomore Morgan Hoffmann, who each carded 2-over par 74s and are tied for 16th place.
Senior Trent Whitekiller finished tied for 23rd place with a 75, while junior Mark Johnson came in tied for 57th with an 80 during his first round.
The Cowboys will begin their second round at 9:50 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with Stanford and TCU at the par-72, 7,544-yard layout.
