January 18, 2009 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
MANHATTAN, KAN. Â The Oklahoma State women's track and field team's performance Saturday at the KSU Invitational was highlighted by a pair of individual championships, including Baiba Blumbaha in the triple jump with a leap of 12.26 meters and Merritt Dietz in the shot put with a toss of 13.53 meters.
The Cowgirls just missed a third champion in 800-meter run, as Heather Estetter finished in second place less than one second behind Emporia State's Katie Mona. Estetter, a freshman running in the event for the first time, finished with a time of 2:19.72.
Kristen Gillespie, who finished second in the 600-yard run with a time 1:26.46, and Katie Hamilton, who finished second to Dietz in the shot put with a throw of 13.39 meters, were among other Cowgirl freshmen who competed well.
The Cowgirls return to action January 31, as they travel to Norman, Okla., for the J.D. Martin Invitational.
