Oklahoma State Celebrates College Football's Greatest Season

STILLWATER, Okla. Â The fall of 2008 marks the 20-year anniversary of the greatest college football season ever produced by a running back. In 1988, Oklahoma State junior Barry Sanders stunned followers of college football with a season that included 34 NCAA records and an eventual Heisman Trophy.
To commemorate the campaign that saw Sanders rush for 2,628 in just 11 games, along with 37 touchdowns, Oklahoma State has unveiled a new web site that takes a look back at what is still the greatest individual season ever.
The site, barrysanders.okstate.com, will take a look back at each week of the 1988 season by those who witnessed it firsthand. During the course of that special fall, questions concerning Sanders' ability to replace All-American Thurman Thomas in the Cowboy backfield, were replaced with speculation that Sanders might be the greatest running back of all time.
Each week during the season, a new chapter of the 1988 season will be revisited on .
