Cowboy Defensive Line Earns Gundy's Praise
August 07, 2008 | Cowboy Football
Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy liked what he saw from the Cowboy defensive front Wednesday afternoon as the Cowboys completed their first week of fall camp.
“We had a really good practice today,” the head coach said. “It was 10 to 12 degrees cooler on the heat index and obviously the players could feel that. They moved around really well.
“It was a good day for the defensive front,” he added. “I thought they controlled our offensive line throughout the day. We did a considerable amount of short yardage and goal-line work and our defensive front controlled the offensive front, which is encouraging.”
The Cowboys will practice twice on Thursday and again on Friday afternoon in front of Saturday afternoon's 5 p.m. scrimmage.
“It will be interesting to see how the players react in the scrimmage,” Gundy said. “We have three or four young guys that have a chance to compete and play some in the first game if they progress and stay healthy and hold up to the physical demand. We'll see how those guys do with the pressure on them.”
The scrimmage will be held in Boone Pickens Stadium and will be open to the public and the media.
