Cowgirl Soccer Picked To Finish Fourth In Big 12 Conference

IRVING, Texas  Oklahoma State was chosen to finish fourth in the 2008 Big 12 Conference soccer race, and senior midfielder Yolanda Odenyo was named to the preseason All-Big 12 soccer team in a vote of the league's head coaches, it was announced by the conference office today.
Texas was picked to win the league crown, garnering 94 points and five first-place votes to edge second-place Texas A&M. The Aggies, who won the league last season, collected 93 points and four first-place votes.
Missouri earned the third spot in the poll with 77 points and two first-place votes, while OSU came in fourth with 71 points.
The Cowgirls finished the 2007 season with a 5-4-1 mark in Big 12 play to claim a fifth-place tie in the league standings.
Odenyo has earned All-Big 12 status in each of her three seasons in an OSU uniform, including a spot on the first team in 2006 and 2007. She was also the conference's co-player of the year in 2006.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team or players in the preseason voting.
OSU hosts an exhibition game against TCU Saturday at 6 p.m. and will open the regular season Aug. 23 at SMU.
