Cowgirl Track and Field Adds Six For 2008-09

STILLWATER, Okla. Â Oklahoma State women's track and field coach Rene Sepulveda announced six additions to the Cowgirls' 2008 signing class today. Kendra Woodson (Farmington, N.M./Piedra Vista), Brittani Johnson (West Plains, Mo./West Plains), Jessica Lewis (Crowley, Texas/Crowley), Autumn Moses (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington), Heather Estetter (Fort Smith, Ark./Northside) and Mykka Jasper (Anadarko, Okla./Anadarko) will all join the OSU squad.
Kendra Woodson
Sprints/Hurdles
Farmington, N.M./Piedra Vista
High School: The high scorer at the 2008 New Mexico state track and field championships ... New Mexico state champion in the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles ... State runner-up in the 200 meters and ran the anchor leg of the runner-up 4x200 meter relay ... Took fourth in the triple jump ... Personal bests include 14.55 in the 100 meter hurdles and 44.19 in the 300 meter hurdles.
Coach Rene Sepulveda on Kendra Woodson: “Kendra has great potential as a 400 meter hurdler in college and will also work on her 100 meter hurdles and possibly compete in the heptathlon in the future. She has a great opportunity to train under OSU volunteer assistant Jim Bolding who coached Leisa Davis-Knowles and Alison Erzinger to All-American in the 400 meter hurdles in 1985, 1986 and 2005.”

High School: Missouri individual state champion in cross country in both 2005 and 2006 ... Member of three Missouri state champion teams in 2004, 2006 and 2007 ... Set a new Class 3A state course record time of 18:42 ... Southwest Missouri Coaches Association Cross Country Athlete of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2007 ... Champion at the Chile Pepper High School Cross Country Invitational in 2006 ... State runner-up in the 3,200 meters and fourth-place finisher in the mile as a senior ... Top performer on the Springfield News-Leader's honor roll in both the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters ... Member of the National Honor Society.
Coach Rene Sepulveda on Brittani Johnson: “Brittani was a team leader coming out of high school. Her work ethic and leadership will be a big asset for the upcoming cross country season. She could be a big surprise when she moves to the 6,000-meter distance in cross country. She'd like to focus on the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters during the track and field seasons.”

High School: All-state honoree for her efforts both on the track and in the classroom ... Personal bests include 39'9 in the shot put and 120'2 in the discus throw ... Fourth-place finisher in the shot put at the regional meet her senior year.
OSU Throws Coach John Baumann on Jessica Lewis: “Jessica has the power and quickness to become an all-Big 12 performer in the hammer. She will compete in the weight throw indoors and the hammer and discus outdoors. Jessica will be a good fit to replace three-time all-Big 12 thrower Deleanor Kirkpatrick, who just graduated.”

Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington
High School: Third-place finisher at the Oklahoma 5A state meet in the 400 meters with a 57.91 also posted top-five finishes in the 4x100 meter relay (fifth), the 4x200 meter relay (fourth) and the 4x400 meter relay (fifth) ... Starting forward on Booker T. Washington's 2008 Oklahoma Class 5A state champion basketball team ... Attended Kearney HS in Kearney, Neb., her first three years of high school before moving to Oklahoma and enrolling at Booker T. Washington for her senior year.

Washington has a strong tradition in sprints and relays. We are excited to continue to build a good relationship and recruit additional track and field athletes from Booker T. High School: 2008 Arkansas Class 7A state champion in the 1,600 meters (5:08.21) ... Won the title in the mile at the 2008 Arkansas Meet of Champions.
Coach Rene Sepulveda on Heather Estetter: “Heather improved by over 20 seconds in her mile time from the previous season. She has the potential to qualify for the U.S. Junior Nationals in the 1,500 meters her freshman year. Our coaching staff was impressed by her competitive nature and her long-term potential in the 1,500 meters and the 5,000 meters.”

High School: Attended Anadarko HS in Anadarko, Okla., where she was coached by former Oklahoma State football player Lavon Hicks ... A tall athlete with a promising future ... Without ever lifting weights, threw 120 in the discus and 14 in the shot put ... Likely to start her Cowgirl career in the weight throw, then move to the hammer throw.
