Belza Named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American

TUCSON, Ariz. Â Oklahoma State second baseman Tom Belza has been named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team, it was announced today by Collegiate Baseball.
Belza moved into the Cowboys' starting lineup early in the conference season, and the freshman from Loveland, Ohio, proved to be a slick fielder at second base and one of OSU's most dependable bats.
In 50 games, Belza led OSU with a .386 batting average, which is also currently tops in the Big 12 Conference, to go along with two home runs and 34 RBIs. He earned second-team All-Big 12 honors at second base and was named to the NCAA Stillwater Regional All-Tournament team.
Belza was one of the Cowboys' most consistent hitters in Big 12 play with a .345 average, which was second on the club, and 11 RBIs. And during OSU's 12-game winning streak late in the season, he hit .479 (23-for-48) with 11 RBIs and eight runs.
Belza recorded 19 multi-hit games, including 10 games in which he collected three or more hits. He was named the StatStud.com National StatStud of the Day on March 19 for his 6-for-6, six-run, five-RBI effort against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Belza is the eighth OSU player to earn Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball.
