Cowgirls Send 10 to NCAA Midwest Regional

STILLWATER, Okla. Â The Oklahoma State women's track and field team sends 10 members to the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday and Saturday at the University of Nebraska to compete in six events.
Junior Merritt Dietz, the only Cowgirl to qualify for two events, highlights Oklahoma State's trip to Lincoln, Neb. Dietz holds the second best, and school record, discus mark and the 10th best shot put mark in the region this season.
Senior LaKendra Greathouse, who holds the 18th best shot put mark in the region, and senior Alina Roman, who holds the 25th best discus mark, join Dietz in their respective events.
Senior Deleanor Kirkpatrick is the only Cowgirl to qualify in the hammer throw, posting the ninth best throw in the region this season.
Sophomore Baiba Blumbaha and freshman Clarissa Andrews both recorded triple jump marks of 12.43 meters this season, qualifying them for the regional and giving them the 25th best mark in the region.
Four Cowgirls will compete in running events at the regional.
Freshman Mihaela Susa and sophomore Tone Hjalmarsen, with the ninth and 15th best regional times, respectively, will compete in the 5,000-meter run, while senior Eva Tomankova and sophomore Natalia Kovtun, with the seventh and 23rd best regional times, respectively, will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
If any Cowgirls qualify at the regional, they will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, which are scheduled for June 11-14 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
