May 20, 2008 | Cowboy Baseball
IRVING, Texas - Oklahoma State sophomore Tyler Lyons has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week for games played the final week of the regular season, it was announced by the league office today.
Lyons tossed a complete game in OSU's series-clinching win over Bedlam-rival Oklahoma last Saturday. The southpaw scattered six hits and allowed just one unearned run in the 11-1 win. Lyons also racked up nine strikeouts, only one shy of his career high.
The win was Lyons' team-leading 10th of the season as he improved to 10-2 and became the first OSU pitcher since 2005 to record 10 wins in a season.
The game also marked Lyons' fourth complete game of the season, all of which came in conference play.
The weekly Big 12 awards marks the first of Lyons' career. He shares the award with Austin Wood of Texas.
Lyons is the second Cowboy to earn conference pitcher of the week honors this season. Andrew Oliver earned the accolade on April 14.
