Cowgirls Have Two Champions at Nebraska Invite

LINCOLN, Neb. – In the last weekend to compete before the Big 12 Championships, the Oklahoma State women's track and field team claimed event titles in both of the events it entered Saturday at the Nebraska Invite.
Senior Deleanor Kirkpatrick highlighted the day for the Cowgirls with a season-best hammer throw of 57.11 meters, which gave her first place in the event.
Joining Kirkpatrick as a first-place finisher was junior Merritt Dietz. Dietz, who holds the second-best discus mark in the Big 12 this year and the Oklahoma State school record, won the discus throw with a toss of 48.64 meters.
Senior Alina Roman also competed in the discus throw, finishing fourth with a 42.53-meter throw.
The Cowgirls return to competition at the 2008 Big 12 Outdoor Championships in Boulder, Colo., May 16-18.
