Rickie Fowler Named To Jack Nicklaus Watch List
April 08, 2008 | Cowboy Golf
The Nicklaus Award is presented to the Player of the Year in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as well as the NAIA.
Fowler has competed in eight events this season, finishing in the top 10 in each of his starts. The Murrieta, Calif., native is currently ranked No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index and leads the Cowboys with his 70.46 stroke average.
In just his second start as a Cowboy last fall, Fowler recorded his first career victory at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. In addition, he has a pair of runner-up finishes, coming in second at the Puerto Rico Classic and the U.S. Collegiate Championship.
The Nicklaus Award recipients will be named immediately following the final round of each respective national championship.
Additionally, a 20-player All-Nicklaus Team - which will include outstanding players from NCAA Divisions I, II and III and the NAIA - will be named June 10.
