Cowboy Golf Places Second At Morris Williams Intercollegiate

Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted its second consecutive runner-up finish on Tuesday, finishing second at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at the University of Texas Golf Club.
The Cowboys entered the final round three shots clear of the field before carding a 13-over 297 score. OSU finished with a 54-hole total of 874 and six shots behind Texas. The Longhorns fired the day's best round by four shots, finishing with a 287 on their way to an 868 total.
For the Cowboys, the runner-up showing was their fourth this season.
UT's Bobby Hudson fired a 65 during his final round to finish at 208 and four shots ahead of teammate Charlie Holland for medalist honors.
A pair of Cowboy freshmen each finished in the top 10 as Rickie Fowler and Mark Johnson tied for eighth place at 217 after carding rounds of 71 and 74, respectively.
For Fowler, the performance continued the impressive start to his OSU career. The Murrieta, Calif., native has now finished in the top 10 in each of his eight starts as a Cowboy.
The start for Johnson was his first since the Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 29 and produced his first career top 10.
Sophomore Trent Whitekiller wrapped up the event tied for 21st place at 221 after carding a 75 on Tuesday, while freshman Kevin Tway came in tied for 23rd place after a final round of 77 resulted in a 222 total.
Junior Trent Leon tied for 34th with a 226 total after turning in a 77.
The Cowboys will return to action on April 25 when they travel to Trinity, Texas to defend their crown at the Big 12 Championship.
