Cowgirl Softball Falls to Ninth-Ranked Sooners, 3-1

Oklahoma led 2-0 when Amber Flores and Susan Ogden both scored on a base hit by Samantha Ricketts on in the first inning on April 2. The game resumed in the bottom of the second inning and the Cowgirls' Heather Kim up to bat with one out. With a two-ball, two-strike count, Kim struck out on the first pitch.
The Sooners added their final run as Ricketts led off the third with a solo home run which cleared the right field fence. Cowgirl pitcher Anna Whiddon threw well the rest of the game, allowing just two hits in the final five innings.
Oklahoma State scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Alysia Hamilton hit a bloop single just over the pitcher's head. She advanced to second base on a groundout by Kim Kaye, and scored on a base hit by Megan Castle to right field. The Cowgirls never threatened again as OU's D.J. Mathis mowed the final 10 batters.
These two teams will play again on Wednesday night in Stillwater at 7 p.m. at the OU Sports Complex.
