STILLWATER, Okla. Â A pair of Oklahoma State freshmen had strong nights at the plate to lead the Cowboys to a 10-4 win over Mid-America Christian Tuesday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
Tom Belza was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while fellow freshman Davis Duren added two hits and three RBIs to lead the 13th-ranked Cowboys to their fifth-consecutive win. OSU is now 28-11 heading into Wednesday night's showdown against No. 7 Wichita State at Reynolds Stadium.
OSU got on the scoreboard first, taking a 1-0 lead on Dean Green's sacrifice fly in the third inning.
The Cowboys scored two runs in each of the next two innings and rallied for a three spot in the sixth frame.
In the fourth, Duren plated both runs with a two-RBI double, and in the fifth it was a Belza single that brought home a pair of runs to make the score 5-0.
MACU (10-34) plated its first run in the sixth on an RBI single by Jon Reed.
But the Cowboys answered in the bottom of the inning. Matt Hague got the scoring started with a solo home run, his sixth of the season, to left-centerfield. Belza and Duren provided the other two runs in the frame, both on RBI singles.
Jeff Breedlove picked up the win on the mound to improve to 2-0 on the season. The junior right hander tossed five scoreless innings and struck out four while allowing just two hits.
OSU hosts the Shockers at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
