Medchill Named Big 12 Player Of The Week

IRVING, Texas  Oklahoma State outfielder Neil Medchill has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Player of the Week for games played during the week of April 14-20.
Medchill, a sophomore from Oxford, Mich., continued to be OSU's hottest hitter and helped lead the Cowboys to a 4-1 week that included OSU becoming the first team to sweep a series against Texas in Austin since 1996.
In five games last week, Medchill led OSU with a .524 batting average that included a double, triple, two home runs and six RBIs. He was 11-for-24 at the plate, scored six runs and recorded a .952 slugging percentage.
In the Texas series, Medchill was 6-for-13 with a double, homer and three RBIs. In the series clinching game on Saturday, he was 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, and on Sunday he went 2-for-4 and extended his career-long hitting streak to seven games.
Medchill is hitting .407 with three homers and 21 RBIs in 26 games this season. He leads the Cowboys with a .400 average in Big 12 play.
With his first-career Big 12 Player of the Week honor, Medchill becomes the third Cowboy to earn the award this season, joining Tyrone Hambly (Feb. 25) and Rebel Ridling (March 3). Andrew Oliver was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on April 14.
