Oklahoma State's men's golf team fired a 281 during its final round at the United State Collegiate Championship on Thursday to finish alone in second place.
The Cowboys wrapped up the event with a 3-over 867 total at The Golf Club of Georgia to finish five shots ahead of Alabama and three strokes behind Southern California.
Individually, junior Trent Leon earned his first collegiate victory after posting a 2-under 70 during his final round to finish at 208. The Dallas, Texas native opened with a birdie before playing his next six holes in 4-over par. However, Leon rebounded with birdies on Nos. 8 and 9 to make the turn with a 1-over 37 before carding a bogey-free back nine that included three birdies to secure the victory.
Leon's 8-under total put him one shot ahead of teammate Rickie Fowler, who tied USC's Jamie Lovemark for second place.
Fowler, a freshman from Murrieta, Calif., found his way to the No. 2 spot after firing a final round of 67 that included six birdies on his way to a 209 total.
Freshman Kevin Tway turned in a 74 during his final round and finished in 37th place at 224, while sophomore Trent Whitekiller recorded his best round of the event with a 70 to finish at 227 and tied for 45th place.
Junior Jon McLean posted a 77 during his third round and finished tied for 62nd place at 233.
