Cowgirls Finish 11th At Big 12 Indoor Championships

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Oklahoma State women's track and field team finished 11th at the 2008 Big 12 Indoor Championships, which concluded Saturday in Lincoln. Eva Tomankova was the Cowgirls top performer Saturday, earning a sixth-place finish in the 3000 meters with a 9:41.39. Other OSU scorers were Baiba Blumbaha in the triple jump (eighth place, 12.43 meters) and LaKendra Greathouse in the shot put (eighth place, 15.10 meters).
Mihaela Susa, Tone Hjalmarsen, McKale Davis and Natalia Kovtun joined Tomankova in the 3000 meters, with Susa taking 11th place in 9:50.56, Hjalmarsen finishing 14th in 9:51.86, Davis placing 16th with a 9:55.18 and Kovtun rounding out the Cowgirl showing by crossing the finish line 32nd with a 10:22.71.
Merritt Dietz finished 13th in the shot put to put a cap on the Cowgirl effort.
The outdoor season begins with the Willie Williams Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., on March 21.
