Cowboy Golf Finishes Ninth At Southern Highlands Collegiate

The Cowboys 6-over total was its low round of the 54-hole event and gave them a 31-over total of 895. OSU finished one shot behind Florida for eighth place. UNLV took home the team title, finishing with a 5-over 869 score.
Individually, a trio of players tied for the top spot as Southern California's Rory Hie, Georgia's Hudson Swafford and Charlotte's Jonas Enander Hedin all finished at 3-under 213. Hie won the three-way playoff to claim medalist honors.
OSU freshman Rickie Fowler moved up three spots into a tie for seventh after a final-round 73 moved him to even par at 216. The Murrieta, Calif., native continued his string of top-10 finishes with the showing. Fowler has now finished among the top 10 in each of his five collegiate starts.
Junior Trent Leon jumped 24 spots with a 2-under 70 during his final round to finish tied for 36th place at 226, while freshman Kevin Tway turned in a 75 for a 230 total and a tie for 56th place.
Junior Jon McLean also finished among the group at 230 after recording a 76 during his final round.
Sophomore Trent Whitekiller finished tied for 68th place at 238 after posting a 79 on Sunday.
The Cowboys will return to action on March 17 when they travel to San Diego to take part in the Barona Creek Collegiate.
