Cowboys Eighth After Day One At Big 12 Championships

LINCOLN, Neb. - Day one action at the 2008 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Lincoln concluded Friday with the Oklahoma State men's team in eighth place with 10 points. A trio of Cowboys finished in the top eight in the 5000 meter run, led by senior David Jankowski who placed fifth with a time of 14:20.25, junior Matt Barnes-Smith, who was sixth with a time of 14:21.58 and sophomore David Chirchir who was eighth with a time of 14:27.42.
The Distance Medley Relay team finish seventh with a time of 10:07.93 to score two points bringing the team total to 10 points on day one.
OSU started the day with four of its runners competing in the mile run. Freshman Josh Mathis had the best finish, placing 10th with a time of 4:13.10 not far behind was junior Peter Doroshuk who finished 11th in 4:13.65.
In the 1000 meters, freshman Johnathan Stublaski finished in 11th place with a time of 2:27.84 and senior Alejandro Ruiz took 20th by breaking the line at 2:32.50.
