OSU's spring calendar will culminate with the April 12 Orange-White game, which will be followed by a free concert in Gallagher-Iba Arena performed by Columbia Recording Artist Keith Anderson.
“We want to get better at our base offense and base defense,” Gundy said of his team's spring goals. “We'll run the same plays on offense and we will develop a backup quarterback. Defensively, we will continue to work the system that coach (Tim) Beckman brought in a year ago. We have a lot of room for improvement: blocking, tackling, throwing, catching, backpedaling, breaking on the ball.”
The Cowboys welcome back 17 starters from last year's team that went 7-6 overall and tied for third in the Big 12 South with a 4-4 conference record. The spring roster will also include eight newcomers that arrived on campus in January, including seven junior-college players. Six of the newcomers are defenders.
“It will be interesting to see how those guys that showed up in January pick up on what we're doing and actually carry it into a live drill at a fast speed,” Gundy said. “That's what you always worry about with incoming players.”
OSU will have three scrimmages open to the public prior to the spring game. The dates for those scrimmages are March 14 (1:30 p.m.), March 28 (3:30 p.m.) and April 4 (3:30 p.m.).
The spring game will kick at 4 p.m. and will be preceded by Cowgirl softball vs.
The concert will follow the spring game.
