Cowgirls travel to Sooner Open

Sooner Open: The Oklahoma State University women's track and field team competes at the Sooner Open this weekend in Norman, Okla. at the Mosier Indoor Track facility.
Last time out: The OSU women competed last weekend at the Missouri Southern Invite with top performances from senior Lauren McKee (60 meter dash – 7.83), freshman Alina Istrate (Mile run – 5:16.12), senior Kim Blomkvist (3000 meter run – 10:29.16) and sophomore Baiba Blumbaha (long jump – 5.94m; triple jump – 12.38m). The Cowgirls posted 16 new season bests at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center in Joplin, Mo.
The Cowgirls also found success in the Distance Medley Relay as Teran Mixon, Irene Masai, Brandi Andrews and Natalia Kovtun finished in first place with a time of 12:16.50 on day one. On day two of the Missouri Southern Invite the Cowgirls top two finishes came from senior Lauren McKee (60 meter dash – 7.83) and freshman Alina Istrate (Mile run – 5:16.12). In about ten races the Cowgirls placed numerous runners in the top ten.

“We've missed a lot of hours of training,” head coach Rene Sepulveda said. “the throwers haven't got to throw, jumpers haven't got to jump, sprinters haven't got to do a lot of sprint work.”
