Cowboys Picked To Finish Fifth By Conference Coaches

IRVING, Texas  Oklahoma State was picked to finish fifth in the 2008 Big 12 Conference baseball race in a preseason vote of the league's head coaches, it was announced by the conference office today.
Coach Frank Anderson's Cowboys are coming off a 42-21 season in which they finished third in the conference standings with a 16-11 mark. OSU's best-ever Big 12 finish came in 2006, when the Pokes went 18-9 to earn a second-place finish in the league.
For the seventh consecutive year, Texas was selected as the preseason favorite to win the conference, earning eight of the 10 first-place votes. Missouri was tabbed to finish second, while Baylor and Texas A&M rounded out the top four.
OSU opens the 2008 season Friday when they host the first of four weekend games against Gonzaga at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
