Lyons Tabbed Preseason All-American By NCBWA

STARKVILLE, Miss. Â Oklahoma State junior pitcher Tyler Lyons has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association 2009 Preseason All-America Team, it was announced today.
Lyons, a southpaw from Lubbock, Texas, is one of six starting pitchers on the NCBWA All-America first team.
As a sophomore, Lyons recorded a 12-2 mark and 3.31 ERA to go along with 92 strikeouts and only 19 walks. In 15 starts, he led the Big 12 Conference with 108.2 innings pitched, and he tied for the league lead with four complete games.
Lyons' 12 wins tied for fourth nationally in 2008. His win total also marked the eighth-most wins in a single season in OSU history, and the most by a Cowboy hurler since 2004.
A second-team All-Big 12 performer, Lyons was named to the All-Tournament Team at the NCAA Stillwater Regional, and he was also a first-team Academic All-Big 12 and second-team Academic All-District honoree.
During the summer of 2008, Lyons was a member of the Team USA club that led the United States to a gold medal at the FISU World Championships. Lyons was part of a squad that went 24-0 during its tour and a pitching staff that combined for a National Team Record 0.88 ERA. In 11 appearances with Team USA, Lyons was 2-0 with 17 strikeouts in 14 innings, and he did not allowed an earned run.
