November 05, 2008 | Cowboy Football
Oklahoma State junior quarterback Zac Robinson and Cowboy head football coach Mike Gundy have been named to the semifinalist lists for two prestigious national awards.
Robinson is one of 15 semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, which is presented annually to the nation's collegiate player of the year. Gundy is one of 15 semifinalists for the George Munger Award, which is presented annually to the national coach of the year.
The honors are awarded by the Maxwell Football Club.
Both lists will be reduced to three finalists with the Maxwell and Munger Award winners being announced Dec. 11 as part of the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show that will be telecast by ESPN.
Robinson currently tops the Big 12 and is second nationally in passing efficiency. He has already been named a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award, which goes to the national quarterback of the year.
Gundy is in his fourth year as head coach at his alma mater. Under his direction, OSU has improved from 4-7 in 2005 to its current mark of 8-1. OSU enters Saturday's game at Texas Tech ranked eighth nationally in the major polls and sits No. 9 in the BCS standings.
