Coach's Update: Rene Sepulveda
November 23, 2008 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
Oklahoma State women's cross country coach Rene Sepulveda talks about the 2008 season and what the Cowgirls can take from it.
On the season:
"For as many freshmen as we had this season, and Natalia's first cross country season ever, it was a successful season; a great learning experience for the young ones. We were also very competitive with so many inexperienced runners."
On next season:
"We have everyone returning, we red shirted the twins and they will be really good next year. They could have made or top 7 easily."
On Mihaela Susa:
"I am proud of Mihaela. Hopefully next year, she makes a jump to the elite; the top five in the region and conference."
On the team:
"Leah and Victoria made some big improvements. If Natalia would have stayed healthy, she could have been our No. 1 runner. It will be exciting to see her progress in track this spring and next cross country season. Kristen Gillespie, for a 400; 800 meter runner, had a great season and should have big things to come in the 800 meter this spring. Brittani Johnson finally had a very good meet at regionals and showed that she will be a big help next year."
On Victoria Fratczak:
"Victoria will be competing at the Canadian Jr. National Cross Country Championships next Saturday in Guelp, Ontario, outside of Toronto, in the 5K distance. I will be taking her next week."
