Postgame Notes vs. Colorado
November 16, 2008 | Cowboy Football
* Oklahoma State cornerback Jacob Lacey forced a fumble that Cowboy safety Ricky Price recovered on Colorado's first series of the game, making it so Oklahoma State has now held the opposition scoreless on its first possession in 10 of 11 games this year.
* Dan Bailey kicked an 18-yard field on OSU's opening drive, making it so the Cowboys have now scored on their first possession in eight of 11 games this year.
* Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew made the 100th reception of his career in the second quarter. In doing so, Pettigrew became only the eighth player in OSU history  and the first tight end  to make 100 receptions in a career.
* Zac Robinson connected with Dez Bryant for a 29-yard touchdown pass midway through the second quarter that marked the first touchdown scored by Bryant in a true road game. He scored a touchdown in the Cowboys Insight Bowl victory over Indiana last year, but prior to Saturday's game, that was the only touchdown of Bryant's career scored away from Boone Pickens Stadium.
* Bryant moved up multiple single-season and career lists in Saturday's game. A closer look: He entered the game ranked 18th on OSU's career scoring list with 138 career points. With a touchdown Saturday, he passed Julius Crosslin (RB, 2004-07 with 142 career points). He entered the game ranked sixth in single-season receptions with 64. With four receptions Saturday, he passed Adarius Bowman's 2007 total of 67 receptions. He entered Saturday's game ranked fifth with 1,140 receiving yards this season. With 82 receiving yards Saturday, he passed Adarius Bowman's 2006 total of 1,181 receiving yards. He entered Saturday's game tied for fifth with 102 points scored this season. With a touchdown Saturday, he passed kicker Luke Phillips' 2003 total of 103 points and RB Thurman Thomas' 1987 total of 104 points. He entered Saturday's game ranked second on OSU's single-season touchdown receptions list with 15. He now stands one behind the single-season school record, 17 by Rashaun Woods in 2002.
* Kendall Hunter broke a 43-yard run for a touchdown in Oklahoma State's first drive of the second half, marking his fifth touchdown run of 20 yards or longer this season.
* With Hunter's second half-opening touchdown, the Cowboys have now scored a touchdown on their first drive of the second half in seven of 11 games this year.
* With 102 rushing yards against the Buffaloes Saturday, Kendall Hunter has now eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark in nine of 11 games this season. He has 11 career 100-yard rushing games.
* Kendall Hunter crept closer to Oklahoma State's career top 10 in rushing yards Saturday. He entered the game ranked 16th on OSU's career list with 2,028 yards. He passed Walt Garrison (2,041 rushing yards from 1963-65), Dantrell Savage (2,092 rushing yards from 2006-07), Earl Lunsford (2,105 rushing yards from 1953-55) and George Palmer (2,110 rushing yards from 1972-74)
* The Cowboys held a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Entering Saturday's game, Oklahoma State was a perfect 8-0 when leading after the first quarter.
* Oklahoma State owned a 13-3 halftime lead. Entering Saturday's game, the Cowboys were a perfect 6-0 when leading at intermission.
* Oklahoma State gave Colorado trouble on third down, as the Cowboys stuffed the Buffaloes on each of their first five attempts on third down. After two quarters, the Buffaloes had mustered only one first down in seven attempts against the Oklahoma State defense. After three quarters, the Buffs were 2-for-11 on third down.
* Colorado came into the game limiting its opponents to 159.1 rushing yards per game. The Cowboys rushed for 226 Saturday.
* With the win Saturday, OSU has won two of its last three meetings with the Buffaloes and each of its last two against Colorado in Boulder. Oklahoma State's last trip to Folsom Field in 2004 resulted in a 42-14 Cowboy victory.
* Oklahoma State improves to 9-2 overall on the year and 5-2 in the Big 12. Prior to this season, the Cowboys had six nine-win seasons. OSU has won five or more conference games three times since joining the Big 12 in 1996.
