Coach's Update: Rene Sepulveda
October 16, 2008 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
As the Cowgirls enter the Pre-National meet on Saturday, coach Rene Sepulveda discusses what the team will try to accomplish this weekend and where the team is at right now.
On the team goals for the Pre-National meet:
“Our main goal is to have our top five runners finish under 22 minutes for the 6K race. We are also hoping to get our pack time from our first to fifth runner under one minute.”
On the team's practice schedule before the meet:
“We are sticking to the routine for the most part, but we are resting a little more this week.”
On the impact the race will have on the season:
“We are not a highly ranked team, so we are hoping to run personal-best times and finish in the top of all the Big 12 teams.”
On the team's improvement:
“Actually, our girls have been improving steadily over the season and are starting to become a competitive team. If we improve this week and race close to our potential, we could surprise a few teams this weekend.”
