Countdown To The Jamboree: Field Announced

STILLWATER, Okla. - The field of competition at the 2008 Cowboy Jamboree was announced today, with 105 university, college and junior college teams competing in this year's 72nd installment of the nation's oldest consecutive cross country race. There are 277 high school teams scheduled to compete at the event as well. A total of 5,500 runners will be in action.
No. 2 Oklahoma State is the highest-ranked of the 28 teams competing in the men's university race, with No. 16 Northern Arizona, Indiana and Abilene Christian (the top-ranked team in NCAA Division II), also expected to perform well at the Jamboree. Big 12 schools Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Texas Tech are also included in the field.
On the women's side, No. 21 Texas Tech and 24 Northern Arizona are the highest-ranked Division I teams in the field, with Missouri Southern State and Harding both entering as ranked teams on the NCAA Division II level. Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and TCU will all be included in the field as well.
The Jamboree starts at 8:10 a.m. Saturday at the OSU Cross Country Course when the college/junior college women run. The college/junior college men follow at 8:35, with the university women set to go at 9:10 a.m. and the university men rounding out the collegiate action at 9:45 a.m.
