Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy has announced that Markelle Martin, a Texas 4A all-state football selection, has joined the Cowboy football program and is attending classes at OSU in the spring semester
Martin, who played safety and receiver at Rider High School in Wichita Falls, is ranked as the No. 14 safety prospect in the country by Rivals.com. He is also considered the No. 51 player in the state of Texas by that outlet. On his way to all-state and district defensive player of the year honors, the 6-2, 185-pounder accumulated 81 tackles and five interceptions while leading the Raiders to a 12-2 record as a senior. He was an honorable mention all-state selection as a junior.
Martin joins seven junior college players entering OSU for the spring semester. The other spring newcomers include safety Lucien Antoine, defensive tackle Chris Donaldson, defensive back Maurice Gray, running back Beau Johnson, defensive tackle Swanson Miller, offensive lineman Andrew Mitchell and defensive end Jeremiah Price.
