Cowgirls ready to roll at J.D. Martin Invite

J.D. Martin Invitational
The Oklahoma State University Cowgirl track team will compete this weekend in
Cowgirl Up
The Cowgirl track team will bring 17 women to the invite this weekend which includes: four seniors, one junior, two sophomores and seven freshmen.
In the field
The Cowgirls will begin the day at 11:00 a.m. with Deleanor Kirkpatrick in the weight throw. Also starting at 11:00 a.m. will be Clarissa Andrews, Baiba Blumbaha and Mateja Posavec in the long jump. To follow, Lakendra Greathouse and Merritt Dietz will compete in the shot put. The last event in the field for the Cowgirls will start at 2:15 p.m. in the triple jump staring Andrews, Blumbaha and Posavec.
On the track
The Cowgirls will begin the day at 12:30 p.m. having Kim Blomkvist and Mckale Davis competing in the mile run. Cowgirls Fey Bashorun, Jill Hibbets, Tekeisha Lewis and Lauren McKee will be at the line for the 60-meter dash starting at 1:20 p.m. At 2:00 p.m. in the 1,000-meter run, McKale Davis will be the only Cowgirl on the track. A trio of Cowgirls, Brandi Andrews, Irene Masai and Teran Mixon, are scheduled to race the 600-yard run at 3:05 p.m. The 200-meter run at 3:35 will have three orange-colored jerseys on the track Kim Johnson, Lewis and McKee. Alina Istrate will be the last Cowgirl on the track at 4:45 p.m. lining up for the 3000-meter run.

A trio of Cowgirl freshmen placed in the top five of the 1000-meter run, as Mihaela Susa finished first with a time of 2:52.18, Teran Mixon had a time of 2:56.91 to take third and Brandi Andrews finished fifth with a time of 3:00.93
OSU's distance medley relay squad of Eva Tomankova, Clarissa Andrews, Teran Mixon and Mihaela Susa won its race with an 11:49.09.
“That was a very good start for our season” head coach Rene Sepulveda said.
Deleanor Kirkpatrick placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 17.16 meters. Julie Rader set a new personal best in the weight throw with a toss of 14.66 meters.
In the 800 meter Run, Irene Masai finished second with a time of 2:17.49 only six tenths of a second behind first. Also, Masai placed third in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:26.25.
Sophomore Baiba Blumbaha scored two top five finishes in the triple jump and the long jump, with distances of 12.23 meters in the triple jump and 5.54 meters in the long jump. Cowgirl LaKendra Greathouse had another strong finish at second place with a throw of 14.95 meters and Merritt Dietz set a new personal best in finishing fourth with a shot put toss of 14.49 meters.
In the 60-meter dash senior Lauren McKee claimed the seventh spot with a time of 7.92 and Fey Bashorun was 12th in 8.08. In the mile run, Cowgirl senior Kim Blomkvist took eighth in a time of 5:23.20.
Cowgirl high jumper Destyn Stallings jumped 1.58 meters in the high jump to take sixth. In the 200-meter dash senior Lauren McKee finished in tenth place with a time of 25.87.
Remaining Events
J.D. Martin Invitational marks the first of six events in the month of February, the other five, the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on Feb. 8, the Iowa State Open in Ames on Feb. 15, the USA Cross Country Championships in San Diego on Feb. 16, the Sooner Open in Norman on Feb. 23 and the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Lincoln on Feb. 29. The NCAA Indoor Championships are set for March 14 in
