Cowgirls Drop Conference Opener At Iowa State

AMES, Iowa  Oklahoma State opened Big 12 Conference play Friday night with a 3-0 loss to Iowa State at the Iowa State Soccer Complex.
With the loss, the 13th-ranked Cowgirls dropped to 6-2-1 on the season, while ISU improved to 5-1-2.
OSU took 18 shots in the match, but Cyclone goalie Ann Gleason collected six saves to keep the Cowgirls off the scoreboard.
ISU netted its first goal in the 40th minute when Stephanie Kaphingst scored from 25 yards out on a rebound of a shot that was blocked by the Cowgirls. The Cyclones would take the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Just over 10 minutes into the second half, the Cyclones increased their lead to 2-0 as Elise Reid got past a trio of OSU defenders and found the back of the net for her third goal of the season.
The Cyclones' final goal of the night came at the 67:45 mark as Jordan Bishop's shot off the left post carried in for the score. Amanda Nimtz and Brittanie Waddell recorded assists on the play.
OSU will look to get back in the win column Sunday when they take on Nebraska in Lincoln at 1 p.m.
