Cowgirls Take Ninth At Notre Dame Invitational

The Oklahoma State women's cross country team finished ninth in the Blue division of the Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational run at the Notre Dame Golf Course Friday afternoon. OSU finished with 246 points, a mark that put them 128 points behind Rice, who scored 118 points to win the team title. OSU was led by freshman Mihaela Susa, who ran a 17:36 to finish 30th among all individuals.
Rice was the story of the race, as the Owls came into the race unranked but finished ahead of a field that included six top-25 teams, highlighted by No. 2 Michigan and No. 7 Illinois.
OSU sophomore Tone Hjalmarsen and freshman Lena Orn both finished among the top 50 in the race, with Hjalmarsen taking 42nd and Orn 43rd at 17:46. Freshman Marcela Lustigova was also solid with a 17:52 to take 53rd.
Senior Eva Tomankova and sophomore Leah Schroeder rounded out the Cowgirls effort, with Tomankova finishing 80th with an 18:09 and Schroeder taking 109th at 18:37.
The OSU “B” team runs tomorrow morning at the Cowboy Jamboree.
