Cowboy Golfers Finish Second At Ping/Golfweek Preview

Oklahoma State's men's golf team carded a 10-over 298 team score during its final round at the Ping/Golfweek Preview to slip into second place at Purdue's Kampen Course.
The Cowboys, who entered the day with a three-stroke lead, finished with a 7-over 871 total and four shots off the pace of Charlotte, which also produced the event's individual champion. Southern California posted the best score of the day with a 1-under 287 to finish third with an 873 total.
Stefan Wiedergruen posted a two-shot win in the individual race with his 7-under 209 score after carding a closing 68.
Cowboy freshman Rickie Fowler was impressive in his collegiate debut finishing alone in fourth place at 215 after a 73 on Sunday. The Murrieta, Calif. native was one of just four players in the field to finish under par.
Junior Trent Leon posted his second top-20 finish in as many starts , tying for 16th place at 220 after posting a 76 during his final round.
A pair of Cowboys finished among the group tied for 23rd, as sophomore Trent Whitekiller and freshman Mark Johnson posted scores of 75 and 77, respectively, to come in at 222.
Freshman Kevin Tway finished one shot back of the duo at 223 after carding a 74 to close out play.
OSU will continue its fall slate on Sept. 30 when it travels to to Chicago to take part in the Olympia Fields Intercollegiate.
