Cowgirl Duo Earns Conference Honors

IRVING, Texas  Sasa Jackson and Erin Stigler have been named Big 12 Conference Soccer Players of the Week for games played from Sept. 10-16, it was announced by the league office today.
Jackson, a senior midfielder, was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after leading 16th-ranked OSU to a 2-1 overtime win against No. 9 Notre Dame at the Inn At Saint Mary's Classic in South Bend, Ind. last Sunday. The Edmond, Okla. native scored the game-winning goal just 79 seconds into overtime as the Cowgirls snapped Notre Dame's 43-game home unbeaten streak, which spanned four years and was the third-longest in NCAA Division I women's soccer history.
Jackson, whose player of the week award is the first of her career, leads OSU with four goals on the season, which is also tied for third in the Big 12. She is also tied for third in the league in points (10).
A junior goalkeeper, Stigler was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career after helping OSU to a runner-up finish at the Inn At Saint Mary's Classic. She played all 181:19 in goal for the Cowgirls in the tourney and recorded nine saves while allowing just two goals in two games. Against Notre Dame, Stigler had eight saves on Notre Dame's 10 shots on goal.
For the season, Stigler leads the Big 12 with a 0.60 goals-against average and an .850 save percentage.
