Cowgirl Cross Country to Compete at Boston College Invitational

The Basics
The Oklahoma State women's cross country team competes in its third meet of the season Saturday at the 2007 Boston College Invitational in Boston, Mass.
The race will be run at Franklin Park in Boston. The 5,000 meter race is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
OSU Lineups
Running for the Cowgirls this week will be Mihaela Ana Susa, Marcela Lustigova, Lena Orn, Alina Istrate, Kim Blomkvist, Maria Trejo, Tone Hjalmarsen, Eva Tomankova, Leah Schroeder and Brittany Mason.
About The Cowgirls
Head coach Rene Sepulveda enters his fifth year at Oklahoma State, where he has guided the Cowgirl program into the upper third of the Big 12 during the past three years. Under Sepulveda, Oklahoma State enters the 2007 season fresh off enjoying its best three-year span since joining the Big 12 as the Cowgirls finished third at the conference meet in 2004, second at the conference meet in 2005 and fourth at the conference meet in 2006.
Sophomore Tone Hjalmarsen and seniors Kim Blomkvist and Eva Tomkanova figure to lead the Cowgirl charge in 2007.
Mixing It Up
Last week at the 2007 Hurricane Festival, coach Sepulveda ran his track and field athletes instead of his regular cross country runners. He said he wanted to see how his jumpers, sprinters, and throwers could handle the long-distance run and was pleased that everyone finished the two-mile race.

The Cowgirls took third place with 79 points on Sept. 1, at the Hurricane Festival in Tulsa, Okla.
OSU competed in the cross country run with jumpers, sprinters, and throwers from the track and field team.
Nineteen Cowgirls started and finished the two-mile run, five of them finishing in the top 20. Redshirt freshman Irene Masai led the team with a 14th place finish in a time of 12:37.
2007 Friends Invitational Recap
The Cowgirls finished in first place at the 2007 Friends Invitational last Friday with 66 points, six points ahead of second-place Cowley County.
OSU had two top-10 finishers with junior Brittany Mason placing third with a time of 19:35 and redshirt freshman Irene Masai placing seventh with a time of 20:27.
The Cowgirls had two more in the top-15 with a 12th place finish by freshman Teran Mixon and a 14th place finish by senior Meghan Sullivan.
