Cowboys Pick Up The Pace In Second Practice
August 04, 2007 | Cowboy Football
Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy liked the look of his squad Friday evening in the team's second workout of fall camp.
It was better today than yesterday,” he said following the workout. “We moved around better and we caught the ball better, and we threw it OK. We chalked one up today.Yesterday we wasted one (practice).”
“The defense did a good job of breaking on the ball,” Gundy added. “They're getting better and buying into the system. I see them improving. They're not there yet, but they are gaining confidence.”
The highlight of the practice was a leaping grab by true freshman receiver Dez Bryant, who has turned heads in his first two collegiate workouts.
“He has made some nice plays,” Gundy said. “There's no use denying it -- when a guy makes a play, he makes a play. It seems like guys that have been good college football players show up pretty early. What he's going to do is push the guys in front of him. If I'm playing wideout, I'm going to make sure I know what I'm doing and I'm prepared to play.”
The Cowboys will have a long Saturday. They meet the media at 9 a.m. Fan Appreciation Day will be Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3:30 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. workout.
Gundy will miss Fan Appreciation Day and the Saturday night workout in order to attend the induction of his OSU teammate, Thurman Thomas, into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
