Cowboys Meet With Media, Fans
August 04, 2007 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER, Okla. Â The Oklahoma State Cowboy football team met with the media Saturday morning before an afternoon spent signing autographs and greeting Cowboy football fans during the annual Fan Appreciation Day.
With fall practice just two days old, OSU head coach Mike Gundy likes the look of his 2007 squad.
“The first couple of practices have gone well,” Gundy said. “I was not fired up about the intensity in the first one, but it was much, much better yesterday. We had a nice day and got a little run in afterwards.”
Gundy added that was pleased with the strength and conditioning showcased by the Cowboys and praised his players for their offseason work habits.
“I think our team is in good shape,” Gundy said. “We're looking forward to the heat to see how they adjust to being out there for 2 1/2 hours with pads and sweating. I think they're in really good shape.
“We have a lot of faith in Coach (Rob) Glass and if you look at our players now compared to three years ago, physically, just look at their body structure. We don't have a lot of real heavy, heavy guys. The majority of our guys are pretty flat-bellied and in good physical condition.”
OSU opens the season in less than a month, with a Sept. 1 showdown at Georgia, and the Cowboys are confident of another winning campaign after going 7-6 and winning the Independence Bowl last year.
“This is about to be a very special season,” said preseason All-American wide receiver Adarius Bowman. “The reason is because we finished last year's season really well with the bowl win against Alabama. We had a good spring and a great summer. We are in the two-a-days of camp right now, but it's great.
“We're bringing the young guys along with great additions like Dez (Bryant) and William Cole and Richetti (Jones) on defense. I'm feeling comfortable, and our team is feeling comfortable.”
