Ricks Included On Groza Award Watch List

Oklahoma State kicker Jason Ricks is on the preseason watch list for the Lou Groza Award, which is presented to the nation's top collegiate placekicker, it was announced today.
Ricks converted on 10 of 12 field goal attempts as a sophomore in 2006, booting a 53-yarder in the season-opener against Missouri State. He finished the season by knocking in each of his last seven attempts. Ricks was also successful on 47 of 49 point after touchdown tries during his sophomore campaign. He ranks 14th on OSU's career scoring list with 157 career points and has never missed from inside 40 yards (17-for-17).
The Groza Award watch list is comprised of the top 29 preliminary candidates for the 16th Annual Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, presented by the FedEx Orange Bowl. The top three finalists will be honored during the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Banquet on Tuesday, December 4, 2007. The award will be presented Thursday, December 6, 2007 during the ESPN Home Depot College Football Award Show broadcast live from Orlando, Fla.
Kickers on the Lou Groza Award Watch List were chosen based on statistics from the 2006 season and 2007 preseason expectations. However, all Division I-A kickers are eligible for consideration for the award.
