Cowboy Football Game Day Traffic Suggestions
August 28, 2007 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER, Okla. Â With the high volume of traffic into Stillwater for Oklahoma State football game days and road construction ongoing in and around the city, here are a few suggestions to those traveling to Boone Pickens Stadium to watch the Cowboys.
It is suggested that traffic which is traveling northbound on I-35 exit in Guthrie at Exit 157 and take OK-33E towards Perkins. From there, take OK-177N to Stillwater, which will bring traffic in on Perkins Rd. Just north of Guthrie, traffic slows down to a single lane, and this would be a good alternate route to those who choose to take it. Doing so will hopefully form a good balance between those that continue north on 35 and those that choose the alternate route on OK-33.
Any traffic traveling from the south we would suggest parking on the south side of Boone Pickens Stadium, and anyone traveling from the north is advised to park on the north side of the stadium.
Other road construction that may cause issues will be the continued construction at OK-51 and I-35. This will slow traffic down considerably, as traffic flows in a single lane northbound and southbound. The bridge project just west of Stillwater on OK-51 will not be complete by OSU's September 8th home opener, and construction on Lakeview Rd., which could last through October, will continue to be an issue as well.
