Cowboys Prepare For Saturday Scrimmage
August 18, 2007 | Cowboy Football
The scrimmage is closed as OSU continues preparations for the Sept. 1 opener at No. 13 Georgia. The Cowboys' home season begins Sept. 8 when Florida Atlantic visits Boone Pickens Stadium for the second straight season.
The Cowboys worked out in half-pads on Friday on the eve of what is expected to be a scrimmage of approximately 150 plays.
“We've always gone ones-ones,” Gundy said regarding the scrimmage format that will feature the first-team offense against the first-team defense and the second teams against each other. “Until we get enough depth where we don't feel there's a fall-off between the ones and twos, we'll keep going (with ones against ones). We have a lot of situational scrimmaging planned.”
Gundy says the staff will likely have locked down most of the position battles by Wednesday, although most of the Cowboy defenders up front will see action, regardless of starters listed on the first depth chart of the fall.
