OSU Football Squad Completes First Fall Scrimmage
August 12, 2007 | Cowboy Football
The Cowboys went through approximately 120 plays and faced a variety of situations during the workout.
“Too many mistakes on offense; on defense we did a good job of not giving up the big play,” head coach Mike Gundy said following the scrimmage. “This offense can put you to sleep. That's what they do.”
Despite some typical first-scrimmage missteps, Gundy gave the effort by his third OSU team good reviews.
“It was a pretty good scrimmage for a first scrimmage,” he said. “We didn't have a lot mental errors. We had some procedure errors on the twos, but for the most part it was pretty good. I thought our effort was good. We're probably a little further along than I anticipated, but we have higher expectations for our team. We're getting there, but we still have a lot of work. We're three weeks away.”
In situational play, a couple of Cowboy freshmen got a practice taste of the end zone with short scoring receptions by receiver Dez Bryant and tight end Wilson Youman. Bobby Reid provided a touchdown on the ground for the offense.
The Cowboys will take Sunday off, and return to the practice field until Monday.
