Oklahoma State Announces 2007 Women's Cross Country Schedule

Oklahoma State head women's cross country coach Rene Sepulveda announced the 2007 Cowgirls cross country schedule today.
OSU opens the season at 9 a.m. on Sept. 1 when it sends its B-team to the Hurricane Invitational in Tulsa. The Cowgirls ran away with the 2006 Hurricane Invitational Crown by claiming each of the top four spots in the event. OSU's Tone Hjalmarsen won the race with an 11:26.
Oklahoma State's B-team travels to Wichita, Kan., to take part in the Friends Invitational at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, with the A-team first hitting the course the next week when it competes in the Boston College Invitational at 9 a.m. on Sept. 15. The Cowgirls A-team travels to South Bend, Ind., the following week to take part in the Notre Dame Invitational at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28.
The longest-running consecutive cross country race in the nation is set for 9 a.m. on Sept. 29, when Oklahoma State hosts the 71st annual Cowboy Jamboree at the OSU Cross Country Course. The Cowgirls look to claim their third consecutive Cowboy Jamboree crown when they suit up for this year's event. OSU dominated the event last year, placing four of its runners among the top 15 finishers in the 136-person field.
Oklahoma State puts a cap on its regular season when it travels to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Chili Pepper Invitational at 9 a.m. on Oct. 13.
The Cowgirls will hunt for a conference title when they compete at the 2007 Big 12 Championships at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 in Lubbock, Texas. OSU finished fourth in the Big 12 last year, placing two of its runners among the top 20 finishers at the conference meet. The Cowgirls have placed among the top four teams at the Big 12 Championships each of the last three years and in four of the last six campaigns.
The NCAA Midwest Regional Championship is set for 11 a.m. on Nov. 10 in Peoria, Ill. After winning the regional championship in 2005, the Cowgirls finished fifth at NCAA Regionals in 2006. The NCAA Championships are slated for noon on Monday, Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind. Oklahoma State finished 10th at the NCAA meet in 2005, marking the second-best finish in school history.
