Three Cowboys Named Preseason All-Big 12
July 20, 2007 | Cowboy Football
Three members of the Oklahoma State football team have been named to the 2007 preseason all-Big 12 football team, the league announced on Friday.
Returning first-team all-conference receiver Adarius Bowman, 2006 freshman All-America kick returner Perrish Cox and 2006 second-team All-America punter Matt Fodge have all been selected for preseason league honors by members of the Big 12 media.
Texas (6) and Oklahoma (4) were the only schools with more preseason selections than the three Cowboys chosen.
Bowman is the reigning Big 12 offensive newcomer of the year after he recorded 60 catches covering 1,181 yards with 12 touchdowns last season on his way to first-team all-conference honors. He has been named to numerous preseason All-America teams and one publication ranks him as the best NFL prospect in the Big 12 Conference.
Cox earned freshman All-America accolades for his prowess in the return game. He opened 2006 with a kickoff return for a touchdown (96 yards vs. Florida Atlantic) and averaged 23.8 yards on his returns last season. He had six returns as a freshman that set up OSU scores.
Fodge had a spectacular sophomore season as his 44.9-yard average per punt was the second best mark in Oklahoma State history. Entering his junior season, he has already had 34 career punts downed inside the opposition's 20-yard line. He had three punts longer than 70 yards last season.
