Adarius Bowman Named To Maxwell Award Watch List

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State senior wide receiver Adarius Bowman has been named to the watch list for the 71st Maxwell Award it was announced by the Maxwell Football Club this week.
Presented annually to the nation's outstanding collegiate football player, the Maxwell Award is named in honor of Robert W. “Tiny” Maxwell. This year's watch list consists of 65 players who were selected based on their gridiron performance in 2006.
During his junior campaign, Bowman hauled in 60 receptions for 1,181 yards and 12 touchdowns on his way to being named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and a first-team all-league selection. A semifinalist for the 2006 Biletnikoff Award, he finished the season ranked 11th nationally and second in the Big 12 with 90.85 receiving yards per game, and his yardage total ranks fourth on the school's single-season list.
Bowman turned in a record-setting performance last season at Kansas, catching 13 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors. The Chattanooga, Tenn. native's yardage total set a new Big 12 mark and was the 11th-best game in NCAA history, while his 13 receptions rank second on the school's single-game list.
Semifinalists for the award will be announced in early November, with three finalists being named on Nov. 26. The winner will be announced on Dec. 6 during the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
The watch list was assembled by the Maxwell Football Club's Selection Committee and additions and subtractions may be made during course of the season.
