June 18, 2007 | Cowboy Football
Incoming Oklahoma State freshman Richetti Jones will be one of six players featured during the upcoming season of ESPNU's Summer House. The ESPN Original Entertainment (EOE) reality series, will begin airing its second season July 31 on ESPNU.
The show brings together six of the nation's top incoming college football freshmen to spend one week living under the same roof. The players will share a house in Jersey City, N.J., outside of New York City. The eight, 30-minute episodes will follow the diverse group of athletes as they interact and engage in various day-to-day competitive challenges, ultimately vying for the title “King of the House.”
The series will be aired Tuesdays (July 31 - September 18) at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network, with re-airs generally scheduled for Wednesdays (starting Aug. 15) at 7 p.m. on ESPN2. Content will also be available across ESPN's multimedia platforms, including ESPN.com and ESPN360.com.
Chris Spielman, ESPN college football analyst and an 11-year NFL veteran will return as the “House Dad.” In this role, Spielman will support and coach the players through each challenge and competition and discuss their reactions afterward.
“We are excited to bring back this compelling series that offers our viewers a unique perspective on college football talent before they matriculate to the next level of athletic competition,” said Joan Lynch, executive producer, ESPN Original Entertainment. “ESPNU Summer House will test the character of these young men with some outstanding guidance and mentorship from Chris Spielman.”
Burke Magnus, vice president and general manager, ESPNU, added, “ESPNU is the perfect home for an original series such as Summer House. The show is a great example of our goal to offer fans a deeper and more creative look into the personalities and culture surrounding the world of college athletics.”
The group of players will participate in multiple football challenges and various other challenges that will test them mentally and physically. In some competitions, sports celebrity guests will join the players like last season when Gale Sayers (Chicago Bears Hall of Famer) stopped by. On location shooting is planned for New York City, Philadelphia and the ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn.
The first Summer House took place in Chicago's Lincoln Park district last year. Cody Hawkins of the University of Colorado was crowned “King of the House.”
