Soccer Continued Exceptional Season in the Classroom
May 30, 2007 | Cowgirl Soccer
OSU had a team grade point average of 3.43 in the spring semester, with 17 of 21 players on the roster recording a 3.0 or better. Four players had a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring.
Oklahoma State earned the Team Academic Award for the fifth straight year with a 3.34 GPA for the academic year. That mark is tops in the Big 12 as Texas A&M and Kansas are the only other schools in the conference to earn that distinction. OSU's GPA has risen each year it has won the award since 2002.
The Cowgirls set a team record and led the Big 12 with 12 Academic All-Big 12 selections. Yolanda Odenyo became the program's first NSCAA All-American Scholar as she also became the school's first All-American as well. Odenyo is one of just two players nationally to be named first team All-American and a first team NSCAA All-American Scholar.
Along with Odenyo, Niccole Grimaldi and Adriane Radtke were also named NSCAA All-South Region scholars. It is the first time OSU has had as many as three players named to the All-South Region Scholar teams.
“We are very proud not only of our team's athletic success, but also of their achievements in the classroom,” head coach Colin Carmichael said.
“Our student-athletes are dedicated to succeeding in all their endeavors at Oklahoma State.”
