OSU-Georgia Set For National Cable Telecast
May 30, 2007 | Cowboy Football
The Oklahoma State Cowboys' 2007 football opener against the University of Georgia has been selected for national telecast by ESPN2, the cable network announced Wednesday.
The game will start at 6:45 p.m. in Athens (5:45 p.m. in Oklahoma).
The selection of the Georgia contest means that two of OSU's first three games of 2007 will be televised by ESPN2. In an earlier announcement, ESPN2 made known its choice of Oklahoma State-Troy for national telecast on Sept. 14. That game will kick off at 7:05 p.m. (central).
In addition to the September games, Oklahoma State's Bedlam game at Oklahoma has been moved to Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 24) to accomodate television. An official announcement on TV plans for that game will come at a later date.
OSU appeared on ESPN or ESPN2 once in each of the last three seasons (2004 Alamo Bowl, 2005 win at Florida Atlantic, 2006 Independence Bowl).
The announcement regarding Georgia also means that OSU now has kickoff times for four of its first five games as the Florida Atlantic (Sept. 8), and Sam Houston State (Sept. 29) games will begin at 6:05 p.m. at Boone Pickens Stadium. OSU does not yet have a kickoff time for the Sept. 22nd home game against Texas Tech.
Oklahoma State and Georgia will be meeting for the third time overall and for the first time since 1947. While OSU is coming off a 7-6 season that included a win over Alabama in the PetroSun Independence Bowl, Georgia is coming off a 9-4 season that featured wins over No. 5 Auburn, No. 16 Georgia Tech and No. 14 Virginia Tech (Chick-fil-A Bowl) to close the season.
