Cowgirls Gear Up for Midwest Regional Championships

Oklahoma State's women's track and field team will travel a school record nine athletes this weekend to the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, hosted by Drake University.

The Cowgirls will be represented this weekend by three throwers, four jumpers and two distance runners. Each athlete will look to improve their qualifying mark as they will try to finish in the top five of their respected events to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships in

In the throwing events, OSU will be represented by juniors Alina Roman and sophomore Merritt Dietz in the discus, while junior LaKendra Greathouse will toss the shot put. Roman, who scored four points in the discus at the conference championships, was the first Cowgirl to post a regional mark this season.
Seniors Zivile Siksnelyte and Moira Steyn will look to lead the OSU jumpers as they are set to compete in the long jump. Siksnelyte will also see action in the triple jump as she is the lone Cowgirl to compete in two events.
Also in the triple jump, sophomores Baiba Blumbahah and Mateja Posavec will give the Cowgirls added support as they enter the meet ranked No. 23 and No. 29, respectively in the region.
