2006 Indoor: Dietz focused primarily on the shot put, seeing action in six meets during her freshman campaign ... threw a season best distance of 42-9.50 to finish ninth at the KSU All-Comers Meet ... claimed three other top-10 finishes at the Adidas Classic, J.D. Martin Invitational and the ISU Classic. 2006 Outdoor: Dietz focused primarily on throwing the discus ... claimed the second best throw for the Cowgirls with a distance of 149-00 at the Mean Green Invitational, where she finished seventh ... finished 15th in the event at the Big 12 Championships with a throw of 144-04 ... also claimed top-five finishes at the Tulsa Duels and John Jacobs Invitational. High School: Dietz showed tremendous talent as a young thrower, particularly in the discus and the shot put ... won her district meet in the shot put and discus during her sophomore, junior and senior campaigns ... as a freshman, Dietz finished second in the discus and fourth in the shot put at the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships ... In 2003, Dietz had a second-place finish in the discus, while earning second in the shot put at the state championships ... as a junior, she finished third in the respected events ... aside from track and field, Dietz showed her athleticism in basketball by earning honorable mention all-metro and honorable mention All-State in 2004. Merritt has one other sister, Adair (17), and is the daughter of Craig and Trish Dietz.
