May 14, 2007 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
The Cowgirls finished 12th overall with 22 points. Texas A&M was crowned champion with 140 points. Tomankova, who earned the highest finish of any Cowgirl this weekend, placed second in a regional qualifying time of 10:32.93. Freshman Hanna Holst, who set a regional qualifying time in the event earlier this season, finished 10th in a time of 11:02.80. Junior Stephanie Lovely also had a solid performance as she shattered her previous personal best time by nearly 27 seconds. The “Eva (Tomankova) ran a smart race,” Cowgirl head coach Rene Sepulveda said. “She really paced herself the way she needed to run, especially in these hot and humid conditions. We are proud of all of her accomplishment, since this was her fourth time in her career to score at any of the conference meets.” Junior LaKendra Greathouse then scored three points in the shot put for the second consecutive year as she placed sixth with a toss of 49-06.25 (15.09-meters). “It is exciting to score for the team two years in a row,” junior LaKendra Greathouse said. “This is the best I have ever performed at this meet. It was a tough field of competitors.” Freshman Tone Hjlamarsen also performed well in the 5,000-meter run as she finished 11th with a time of 18:06.44. OSU's 4x100-meter relay team, consisted of senior Zivile Siksnelyte, junior Lauren McKee, sophomores Tihana Sarac and Fey Bashorun, finished ninth with a time of 48.64. In the triple jump, OSU was led by Siksnelyte as she finished with a distance of 41-03.00 (12.57m). Sophomore Mateja Posavec also had a solid performace as she jumped a personal record distance of 41-00.50 (12.51m).
